are a motivation for Williams to play with a sore left shoulder Sunday against the Jets.
"We havent spent five minutes talking about incentives all year," agent Leigh Steinberg said. "I am not even sure he has totaled them up, because he sure hasnt asked me about them. He is a competitive player and is focused on the game."
The Dolphins are out of the playoffs, but head coach Dave Wannstedt said he would play his starters against the Jets with the goal of beating the rival Jets and winning 10 games. That means Williams will play despite a shoulder he has said might need a second surgery after the season.
Williams realistically can add $200,000 to his salary with a good performance against the Jets, but Steinberg said thats not enough to risk further injury.
"I suppose if it was a situation where if a player got 10 sacks, and that is $3 million, then there could be that [motivation]," he said. "But his [incentives] are graduated, and it is not a lot of money. In the real world it is, but not for a pro football player."
Contract incentives will kick in for Williams if the Dolphins either beat the Jets, which would improve their record from 2002, or lose while not committing three more turnovers than they force, and thus improve their turnover margin from last season.

Williams needs 51 yards rushing Sunday to add another $100,000 to his incentives and can earn $50,000 with 21 receiving yards and $50,000 by scoring a touchdown.
The total incentives Williams earns this season would roll over into his base salary of $2.635 million in 2004.
And even if those numbers dont actually motivate Williams, they certainly cant hurt.
