Sherman said hes had few qualms with Favres performance while playing hurt the past month and a half.
Mindful that the Packers have lost all five games in which Favre has thrown for at least 200 yards -- he had a season-high 296 in the last game -- Sherman cautioned upcoming opponents to not necessarily take Favre for granted.
"Brett Favre finds ways to beat you," Sherman said. "Hes proven too many times what hes capable of doing."
In fact, for all of the fuss made about Favres apparent struggles with the bum thumb, hes arguably functioning with greater efficiency, and proficiency, than he did the first half of the season.
His two longest completions of the season have come in the past two games -- 66 yards to Javon Walker for a touchdown in the win over San Francisco on Nov. 23 and 45 yards to Walker for a touchdown at Detroit.
Favre has a season completion percentage of 64.7. His best for a full season was 63.0 in both 1995 and 98.
"Ive told [offensive coordinator] Tom [Rossley] and [Sherman] dont call the game, if it comes down to it, with any doubts on, Whether or not can he make this throw or can he hold onto the ball?" Favre said. "You can never second-guess anything you do. If thats the case, then I shouldnt play.
"If youre going to second-guess a call because of an injury, then I should sit down. Theyre not willing to do that, and Im not, either.
"So, Im willing to make any throw in any situation. If it doesnt work out the way we would like or the ball comes out funny, it comes out funny. Im not concerned about it. ..."
Following up on an item in this weeks Team Notes. ... Sylvester Croom might only have to pull double duty through the weekend.
The new Mississippi State coach is committed to guiding the Packers running backs only through Sundays.
"Im here this week and then well see beyond that. Nothings definite right now," Croom said Wednesday. "I truly am during this transition period going one day at a time."
