How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

that occurred amid rainy conditions at Lambeau were partly attributed to the wet bandage that covered a protective splint on the thumb.

Favre sustained the injury in the Packers opening series of their 34-24 loss at St. Louis on Oct. 19.

Counting that game, hes managed to handle every snap in the past six games. Favre has maintained all along that hes throwing the football as well he did in the first six games of the season.

However, his growing circle of critics are ready to point out that though hes thrown for the same number of touchdowns (11) with the injury as he did prior to it, the interceptions are up (10 compared to eight) and the passing yardage is down (1,097 compared to 1,261).

While its easy to disregard the latter dropoff with the Packers rushing for an average of 183.8 yards in the last six games, theres an accompanying perception about Favre across the league. It seems opposing teams are willing to take their chances with the quarterback who perennially instilled fear in them so as not to get beat by the running attack.

"I have no problem with that," Favre said Wednesday, saddled with some of the worst numbers hes had in an otherwise brilliant 11-plus years as the Packers only starting quarterback.

His 18 interceptions equal the second-highest total in his career after 12 games. He had 19 at this stage in 1998.

Having thrown all of 354 passes, Favre is on pace to throw for 472, which would be his lowest for a full season. He has completed 229 of those passes, which projects to 306 for the season -- only two more than a career-low 304 in 1997.

Furthermore, hes thrown for a meager 2,358 yards, which computes to a career-worst 3,144 for the season.

"It would be easy for me to sit here and to blame any lack of success in the passing game on my thumb," Favre said. "Everyone else may want to point to that and say, OK, lets stop the run game, and, with a broken thumb, lets see what he can do.

"But, Im not going to do that. If Im going to play with any injury, then Im going to play. Im not going to make any excuses. I still feel like I
