How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

Theyre special."

Time will tell whether they will reward the Packers for using a second-round pick in 2001 on Ferguson and a first-round pick in 2002 on Walker. But if the recent stretch of games -- albeit against three losing teams -- is any indication of what is in store in the future, the Packers will be in good hands.

What they are doing now, however, couldnt come at a better time. The Packers once unstoppable running game is being defended by eight-man fronts and run blitzes, leaving the passing game to pick up the slack.

It might have been taking candy from a baby scoring seven passing touchdowns against the Chargers and the Raiders, but someone still had to make the catches and get in the end zone. And someone had to convince Favre to throw it to someone other than Driver.

"I think its giving Brett more and more confidence," Sherman said. "Just taking those shots down the field and letting those guys play. I think he was in awe of those guys making plays. I always say, Give them a chance, theyre going to make them.

"And now [Favre] knows."

Silverstein went on to suggest that Walkers development shouldnt come as a great surprise given the Packers traded away their second-round pick in the 2002 draft to move up eight spots in the first round so they could select the Florida State product with the 20th pick overall. But Walker started only one season for the Seminoles and needed time to adjust to the pro game when he got to Green Bay.

Last year, he caught 23 passes for 319 yards and a touchdown but dropped nine passes, tied for the most on the team.

"My rookie year wasnt where I wanted to be," Walker said. "I knew coming into this year, it was like, as a rookie you can rely on a lot of mistakes. They give you something to fall back on. My motivation this year was I was going to be someone you could rely on."

Walker hasnt always been a factor this season and has four games with just one catch. But he has made the most of his opportunities, averaging an impressive 17.8 yards per catch and scoring nine touchdowns. He only has one drop.

Only eight
