Offensive coordinator John Shoop has been a lightning rod for criticism since he was promoted to that job from quarterbacks coach with three games remaining in the 2000 season.
He was asked if he feels responsible for the uncertain status that hovers over Jauron and his staff going into the Chiefs game.
"I feel a direct responsibility every week, not just this week," Shoop said. "I work for a guy who I think is a tremendous leader, is a man of uncommon integrity, and hes one of those people that you work so hard for because you want to please him.
"The day that he hired me for this job, my only pledge to him was, Im going to work my tail off so I dont disappoint you. So this week is no different."
Shoop is well aware of the criticism of fans and media and the pressure inherent in his job, but he also realizes all of that comes with the territory.
"That happened the day I started this job," Shoop said, "and so from Dec. 10, 2000, until now, every game has been like that. Thats part of the deal.
"Im certainly not naive. I understand what the role of offensive coordinator is in a big city like Chicago. When you step into this position, you experience life full throttle,
