"Im looking forward to next year. You never look back in the past, always look forward."
Looking forward could be considered the theme to McGahees season this year after some feared his NFL career was in jeopardy before it even began.
The former University of Miami stars future was in question when he required reconstructive surgery on his left knee, which he hurt in the Hurricanes loss to Ohio State in last Januarys Fiesta Bowl.
The injury didnt alter McGahees plans from foregoing his final two years at college by entering the NFL draft in April. And following an extensive rehabilitation period, he impressed the Bills enough to select him with the 23rd pick.
After opening this NFL season on the non-football injury list, McGahee showed enough progress for the Bills to place him on their active roster in early November.
While that move allowed him to practice, the Bills have maintained a cautious approach, leaving him inactive for each game he was eligible to play.
Head coach Gregg Williams hasnt ruled McGahee out entirely, but hes insisted that the team is not going to put the players health in jeopardy simply to get him some playing time this season.
McGahee has spent the last few months almost exclusively practicing with the Bills scout team. And that, for now, has been enough for McGahee to get a feel for what to expect next season and to gain confidence that his leg has fully healed.
McGahee playfully joked with a reporter when asked how his leg is holding up, saying: "My leg feels pretty good. Want me to kick you?"
Looking ahead, McGahee plans to spent the next few weeks resting before looking forward to the next season.
"Who wouldnt be excited?" McGahee said. "We feel weve got a great team. We feel we can make that run. Thats everybodys goal. So thats what were going strive for. ..."
