Its unlikely theyll both be back next season. Both running backs do better when they get a lot of carries. Despite his limited role, Johnson has piled up 905 yards and become the first running back in Bengals history to have three 150-yard games in a season.
Dillon said that even if the Bengals decide keep both of them, the teams turnaround makes it more palatable to stay.
"Whatever transpires, I cant lose," Dillon said. "Im in a great situation no matter how you look at it."
Its clear that he thinks the best situation for him is to leave. He noted that Marshall Faulks career reached new heights when he went to St. Louis. Dillon talked to Faulk before last Sundays game.
"He went to another dimension, didnt he?" Dillon said. "Hmm. Interesting."
Dillon is convinced he could do the same. When he severely strained his groin in the third game of the season, fans wondered if years of pounding were catching up with him.
He ran for 108 yards at San Diego on Nov. 23, proving he still has something left.
"It meant a lot," Dillon said. "It silenced a lot of the critics. They said I was done, Id lost a step, I cant do it no more. Come on, get real.
"The thing Im most proud about this year is that Im a warrior, Im a survivor. Everybody tried to write me off -- Coreys disgruntled, hes a bad apple. I came back. You want to talk about character -- Im tougher than leather. It doesnt get any tougher."
