Head coach Jeff Fisher said there was very little chance that McNair will practice before the Titans play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
That would mean McNair will have missed practice for the final three weeks of the regular season. Last season, he missed the final five weeks because of injuries.
Fisher said McNairs right calf is better than a week ago, but the quarterback still has pain in his sprained left ankle because of a broken bone spur. McNair led the Titans to victory over Houston last weekend despite playing with an ankle brace.
McNair led an injury report with nine players listed as questionable on Wednesday, which is why Fisher had scheduled the walkthrough instead of a typical practice.
"This is probably as bad a situation as weve been in all year," Fisher said. "The good part is nothing is long-term. Everything is short-term, a two or three day type of thing. Im confident from our injury standpoint well be able to get back, field a competitive team and play hard and have a chance to win Sunday. ..."
According to the Sporting News, Derrick Mason may be limited in practice this week because of a small fracture he suffered in one of his ribs versus the Texans.
Although all indications are Mason will play this weekend, Ill continue to monitor his status along with McNairs and pass along pertinent developments regarding both in as timely a manner as possible.

As reported by Titans Online staffer Casey Pearce, after playing in 154 career games and becoming only the fourth tight end in NFL history to record 500 receptions, Frank Wycheck could possibly be playing in his final game at the Coliseum on Sunday.
Wycheck, who has suffered multiple concussions throughout his career -- including one earlier this season that caused him to miss six games -- has hinted about retiring following this season.
