How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

What bodes well for Lewis does not bode well for the rest of the league.

If Lewis stays on track with his fathers philosophy, its hard to imagine if anything -- or anyone -- can stand in his way to 2,000 yards.

"This is the time of year when everybodys saying hes probably run down and hes worn out and beat up because of the carries and because of the yards," Lewis said. "But this is what I trained for, and its going to pay off."

Of course, its also worth noting that Lewis will be going up a Cleveland Browns defense he torched for an NFL-record 295 yards three months ago. That fire is still burning.

"We should watch [that game tape] once during the week. Then we should watch it again the night before the game," Browns head coach Butch Davis said. "That way, the memories of that game will be on the guys minds when they go to bed. Theyll remember how the Ravens embarrassed us that day."

Lewis, who has averaged 168 yards in five meetings with the Browns, could rack up a bulk of the yardage needed for 2,000 Sunday against the leagues 20th-ranked run defense.
