How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. 6472,26,16,'Tomlinson Not Surprised By Pro Bowl Snub...','In an article published Thursday, Associated Press sports writer Bernie Wilson suggested that LaDainian Tomlinson "found out the hard way what it means to play for a wretched team."

The star running back wasnt voted to the AFC Pro Bowl team even though he leads the NFL with 2,011 total yards from scrimmage.

The third-year pro was named a first alternate, meaning hed go to the All-Star game in Honolulu on Feb. 8 only if one of the three running backs picked ahead of him pulled out. If that were to happen, though, Tomlinson said hed decline to go.

Although Tomlinson leads the NFL in combined yards, hes fourth in rushing in the AFC and was beaten out by the top three: Baltimores Jamal Lewis, Denvers Clinton Portis and Kansas Citys Priest Holmes.

Tomlinson said he wasnt surprised, mainly because the Chargers are 3-11, tied with Atlanta and Arizona for the NFLs worst record.

"That just shows you what kind of respect we have around the NFL, which is none," Tomlinson said. "If we want some, weve got to earn it ourselves. Weve got to flat out, hands down, be better than other guys in stats. Thats the way its always going to be."

Tomlinson was voted to his first Pro Bowl last year after setting the franchise single-season records with 1,683 yards rushing and 2,172 yards from scrimmage.

Playing behind a shaky offensive line this year, hes still managed to rush for 1,311 yards. Hes also San Diegos leading receiver with 86 catches for 700 yards.

Its that versatility the Chargers felt would help Tomlinson get picked for the Pro Bowl.

"I think hes the best running back in the National Football League," head coach Marty Schottenheimer said. "Its very, very disappointing when you see the quality of performance he has produced, in every regard.

"Ive had players that have been overlooked in the past, but never one that I thought was as obvious as this one should have been," Schottenheimer said.
