A second-round pick from Florida State, Boldin was the only rookie selected to the Pro Bowl, to be played Feb. 8 in Honolulu. He has 86 receptions, third in the NFC and five short of setting the NFL record for rookies.
It didnt take him long to make a mark on the season. In the opener at Detroit, he caught 10 passes for 217 yards, an NFL record for a rookie in his first game.
He has produced nearly every week, earning praise for his toughness and playmaking ability.
"This clearly indicates the respect he has around the league," head coach Dave McGinnis said. "You know the respect he has in this locker room and this city."
The 6-foot-1, 218-pound Boldin left Florida State a year early, but lasted until the second round because he ran a slow time at the annual scouting combine.
But from the first pass he threw to Boldin in rookie camp, Jeff Blake knew the Cardinals had something special.
"Its not about speed, its about making plays," Blake said. "So many scouts look at speed and strength and forget about playmaking ability, and thats why guys like Anquan always slip through the cracks.
"Its a lesson learned on judging talent. Its not how big you are, its not how strong or fast you are, but its character and will and drive and the size of a persons heart. Those things you cant measure."
Boldin arrived in Arizona confident that he could be successful in the NFL. But he didnt allow himself to dream of being selected to the Pro Bowl. There were too many other good receivers in the NFC, he said, and he didnt think too many people would vote for a
