in his first career NFL start against the Dolphins two weeks ago, and the roll of the dice to let more experienced backup Rob Johnson go in the middle of the season proved to work out well.
The knock on Johnson has always been his inability to escape pressure in the pocket, holding on to the ball too long, and the coaching staff felt that he wasnt picking up the offense very well. Hasselbeck, meanwhile, not only showed his grasp of the offense, making tough sideline throws, but he also handled the duress well. Hasselbeck did a great job of stepping up in the face of pressure -- even better than Ramsey, according to one team insider.
The Redskins had allowed the most sacks in the league when Ramsey went down, but Hasselbeck proved he is capable of handling a high-pressure pass rush. He was less impressive in his second start, last Sundays loss to New Orleans, but threw only one interception and avoided being sacked....
Also according to PFW, rookie receiver Taylor Jacobs could soon pass Patrick Johnson on the depth chart. Coaches loves Jacobs work ethic and think he eventually could settle in as the teams No. 3 receiver....

The Redskins re-signed John Simon from the practice squad and released offensive lineman Pita Elisara. who will likely be re-signed to the practice squad.','12/4/2003','12:15:00 AM','Thursday',742 6312,4,14,'Bledsoe Still Dizzy; Misses Practice, Not Sure Hell Play...','According to Associated Press sports writer John Wawrow, Drew Bledsoe did not practice Wednesday, feeling tired and dizzy and unsure if he will play against the Jets this weekend.
Bledsoe refused to describe his symptoms as concussion related. But he said they stem from a helmet-to-helmet hit that forced him to miss the final 19 minutes of last Sundays win over the Giants.
"I wouldnt say I feel completely normal, but Im all right," Bledsoe said. "My head doesnt hurt but Im feeling a little dizzy, a little lightheaded."
