How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

after watching Michael Bennett maneuver in practice Wednesday, head coach Mike Tice made one thing perfectly clear: "Michael will start Saturday."

Whats not so clear is if Bennett, who missed last weeks loss to Chicago with a right ankle injury, will be able to play the entire game against Kansas City. If Bennett hurts his ankle again, hell be taken out of the game, Tice said. He was pulled from practice early Wednesday as a precaution.

"He is going to be able to go, but how long, I dont know," Tice said. "Hes going to go until he cant go. ... Hopefully thats four full quarters."

Williamson added that Moe Williams and Onterrio Smith are expected to see plenty of action because the Vikings probably will run the ball a lot. Kansas City ranks 29th in run defense, and the Vikings want to control the ball to keep the Chiefs potent offense off the field.

Williams (knee) and Smith (thigh) are nursing injuries but have practiced without any problems this week.

In a related note. ...

Pro Football Weekly suggested on Monday that coaches arent sure whether to consider it a blessing or curse that Bennett didnt sprain the foot he broke in March, because now he could have problems with both feet.

Also of interest. ...

Randy Moss has five receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown in one game against the Chiefs. Daunte Culpepper and Bennett have never played against Kansas City.

As noted by the Sports XChange, Culpepper is completing 64.7 percent of his passes. The team record for a season is 64.2 percent by Culpepper in 2001 and Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton in 1975. Culpepper also completed 62.7 percent in 2000.

Moss now owns the top three seasons for receiving yards in Vikings history. With two games to play, he already has the team record of 1,465 this season. He had 1,437 in 2000 and 1,413 in 1999. Moss also owns the fifth spot (1,347 in 2002) and the seventh (1,313 in 1998). That means five
