How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

"I havent taken a rep in a regular season, let alone a playoff game. Thats going to be kind of hard to adjust to," Gesser said.

The Titans wont need a second quarterback Sunday unless McNair, the NFLs top-rated passer, cant play or is re-injured during the game.

Fisher said whether McNair plays will likely be a "Dreaded Game-Time Decision" Sunday, but the Titans can clinch their fourth playoff berth in five years with a victory over the Texans.

McNair sat out last weeks game because of pain from a cracked bone spur in his sprained left ankle. Still, McNair surprised team officials with how well he could move just before kickoff following a pain-killing injection.

The quarterback, who was on crutches this time last week, walked off the practice field without a limp Wednesday, and Fisher said there was a chance McNair might do something in practice Friday.

McNair, who immediately went in for more treatment of his ankle, followed by meetings, wasnt available for comment.

His teammates expect McNair to play, if possible.

"He plays hurt. He plays injured, and he plays with the bumps and bruises and the aches and pains," right tackle Fred Miller said. "Thats just Steve. We think hes one of the best around here because he does that."

Asked how the unsettled quarterback situation affects the rest of the team, Fisher said:

"It shouldnt affect a good football team that can focus and concentrate. It should have no effect whatsoever. If it does anything it improves your team and thats our approach. Weve got distractions we have to deal with this week, the quarterback situation, the Pro Bowl voting, Christmas and the fact that this is the biggest game of the year.

"So if you cant stay focused and you become a 9-to-5 guy this week then youre selling yourself short.
