How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

6321,31,14,'Ramsey Skips Thursdays Practice; Remains Doubtful...','As reported by Redskins.com staff writer Gary Fitzgerald, Patrick Ramsey did not participate in practice Thursday and his status remains doubtful for Sundays game against the New York Giants. He re-aggravated his sore right foot in Wednesday afternoons practice when he slipped and fell during a passing drill.

"Its still pretty sore and Im taking it day-to-day to see if I can get back out there," he said on Thursday. "Its a frustrating process and Im trying to do all I can to get out there and play."

Prior to Thursdays practice, Ramsey said that, even while he was throwing and moving well on Wednesday, his foot felt tender as he dropped back to pass.

"I could tell that if I took a misstep, or if I got stepped on or I slipped, that it would be sore," he said.

The second-year quarterback, who missed last Sundays game against the New Orleans Saints and was forced to miss most of the Week 11 Miami game due to a mild concussion, said he has been concerned about how his injured foot would impact his throwing motion during games.

Ramsey must be able to plant his right foot securely and push off it to throw downfield passes in head coach Steve Spurriers offense.

"Thats one of my concerns," he said. "My shoulder can get sore, my back can get sore. Im not throwing it as smoothly as I would be if I was able to push off it and transfer that momentum to my arm. Im throwing a little jerkier that I have just because I have to get the ball out. Its a concern.

"Im just going to have to find a way to throw without pushing off my foot or just let it rest and get better. And for this to get better, its going to have to take a little more than just staying off of it for a week to get better."

If Ramsey is unable to play Sunday, Tim Hasselbeck would be the projected starter and rookie Gibran Hamdan would be the backup.

Hasselbeck, who started last Sundays game against the New Orleans Saints, received the
