How Do I Play Fantasy Football

"Traditional" fantasy football leagues involve a group of players - typically friends, relatives or co-workers - who all know each other and can discuss their successes and failures with each other every week.

But fantasy football is also a game that can easily be played online with a group of fellow football fans that you've never met. Leagues can be as large or small as you'd like. Generally, leagues for beginners have approximately 8-10 teams, but a league can be formed with just a handful of teams all the way up to a large group of 50 or more owners.

Regardless of how a league is formed, player selection is usually the most important part of the season. In draft based games, and in those cases where geography - and busy schedules - will allow, teams can be selected in person via a "draft", typically held at an owner's house, or some public venue capable of hosting a meeting.

Online leagues — or leagues where the owners are simply unable to get together in person - hold their drafts via the Internet. Over the past few years, technology has allowed the interfaces for online drafts to become much more user-friendly, meaning that beginners and experts alike can easily select an entire team in a short period of time.

"I told my dad before I got on the plane that Id be the kicker on opening night," Longwell recounted. "I knew going against a drafted rookie was an uphill battle but much easier than going up against a veteran.

"If Jacke would have still been here or Gary Anderson in San Francisco, then youre going up against history."

"Im just hoping once he breaks this record, he gets the opportunity to go to the Pro Bowl for the first time," receiver Donald Driver said.

Longwell is having his best season, converting all 37 of his extra points and 19 of 21 field goals.

He credits that accuracy on 85 percent effort.

"Its the Payne Stewart swing versus the Tiger Woods swing," he explained. "I dont swing that hard when I kick the ball. My leg will get it there at 80, 85 percent.

"Its all rhythm, and my rhythm is very accurate."

As reported by the Sports XChange, the Packers have evolved into a running team this season but Favre remains ready to take control of the offense if necessary.

"The day that my confidence is questioned by me is the day I should leave," Favre said last week. "Hey, if my skills have diminished and I havent seen it, maybe Im blind to the obvious. I feel as confident as I stand before you today as I have at any other time."

Favre, 34, was asked about the perception among some assistant coaches and scouts that he isnt able to carry the Packers anymore.

"Who am I to argue with these experts?" Favre said. "Theyre going to say what theyre going to say. The Packers obviously feel they still want me as their starting quarterback.

"I know it wasnt that long ago they were saying, Hey, this guy can do anything. Its funny how peoples opinions and attitudes change after a play, after a game, after a season.

"Im not concerned about that. If I was ever concerned about what other people think I wouldnt be here today. Ive overcome a lot of adversity individually and as a team."
