McCown replaced Blake in the second half of Sundays 50-14 loss at San Francisco. He had what he called probably the dumbest play of his career when, in his own end zone, he was under pressure and threw a lateral to who he thought was Marcel Shipp. But it was tackle L.J. Shelton. The ball careened off Sheltons facemask and Shipp recovered for a safety.
But McCown regrouped for two scoring drives that resulted in his first two TD passes as a pro. He completed 11 of 20 passes for 120 yards and wants to pick up where he left off.
"Just continue doing what I was doing at the end of the game of San Francisco," McCown said, "getting us in the end zone, stuff like that that has eluded me in the preseason, the scrimmages and everything else Ive done since Ive been here."
Blake has made no waves about the change.
"They pay me to do a job," he said. "Whatever they ask me to do, thats what Ive got to do. Its not mine to control. The only thing I can control is how I react to what happens."
McCown praised Blake for all his help.
"I said it Monday and Ill say it again, you dont just learn Xs and Os from veterans," McCown said. "You also learn how to have class and how to be professional. Thats obviously what hes shown in this situation. ..."

As reported by the Sports XChange, McGinnis, a nice guy dealt a bad hand, probably is going to be fired. The names of Vince Tobin, Joe Bugel and Gene Stallings could be plugged into that sentence, as well -- three of McGinnis four predecessors.
Cardinals vice president Michael Bidwill talked to Phoenix reporters about McGinnis this week, but it was what Bidwill didnt say that was more significant than what he did. He said McGinnis would finish the season. Bidwill would not address 2004, the last on McGinnis contract.
