Wright said. "All I know is that I feel comfortable with him, and things have worked for us."
His arm and his feet are the assets that led head coach Brian Billick to select Wright, then the third-string quarterback, over Chris Redman, Bollers main backup. A fifth-year veteran who had started five games for Dallas in two seasons before joining the Ravens in 2002, Wright is unsigned after this season. How he factors into the Ravens future is uncertain, but once Boller returns to full strength there is little doubt that Wright will remain the starter if he continues to win.
"Anthony would be the first to say its an ongoing process," Cavanaugh said. "You never come out of a game and say, Ive got it figured out. We knew that he was a strong-armed, athletic quarterback who was smart. All those things are showing up. Hes playing a pretty smart game."
The unconventional nature of Wright is part of what has helped the Ravens excel. Robinson concedes everything they have done for the past three weeks is not exactly perfect, but Wrights moxie is what fuels the team.
"Its just giving guys opportunities," Robinson said. "[With] Anthony you can see it sometimes, everything doesnt look textbook. Hes just taking that step, lobbing that ball. A lot of guys would say throw it over the shoulder, but he thinks, Ive got Marcus, hes got three or four inches on this guy, thats what we brought him in here for, lets see what he can do."
And Robinson has certainly shown what hes capable of.
