"If starting is what coaches want me to do, Ill be ready," Cartwright said.
Added Spurrier: "Rock knows what to do -- hes been practicing at tailback all week and hes pretty well up-to-date [on the run plays and pass protection schemes.]"
Trung Canidate, who re-aggravated a sprained ankle last Sunday, is questionable for the game, but Spurrier was not optimistic hed have his starting tailback for Sundays game. Ladell Betts is listed as doubtful for the game.
Cartwright is listed as probable himself; he has been nursing a sprained ankle for several weeks. He will be wearing a specially ordered brace this game, which should increase the flexibility of his ankle.
Cartwright said he was better prepared to handle pass protection duties as a tailback than he was in the Week 9 game at Dallas. In that game, he saw his first extensive playing time at tailback and may not have been fully prepared for some blocking schemes.
"I have gotten better [pass protection]," he said. "Its something Ive worked hard at."
