the entire journey, but Boldin has started much faster than the 17 receivers of the modern era who are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Boldin has 79 catches for 1,155 yards. Among the Hall of Fame receivers, Steve Largent had 54 catches in 1976 as a rookie and Paul Warfield 52 in 1964 to lead the way. Warfields 920 receiving yards was the best of the Hall of Famers during a rookie season.
Boldin began his push for December with nine catches for 123 yards last Sunday at San Francisco.
Boldin has two things going for him that could keep his numbers high through the closing three weeks: The Cardinals often get behind early and have to throw, and they do not have an established receiver among their corps. Boldin clearly is the go-to guy.
To counterbalance those positives, however, Boldin wont know from game to game during the closing three weeks who might be attempting to deliver the ball. Second-year backup Josh McCown gets his first pro start Sunday against Carolina. No. 3 man Preston Parsons also is expected to see action, although perhaps not in this game. ...
