The Vikings tried this formation twice against Seattle. Culpepper threw incomplete to Campbell the first time, but Campbell went to the sideline and told Tice that safety Reggie Tongue was taking Moss inside out of the slot, leaving Campbell open on the outside.

The Vikings tried it again on the first play of the fourth quarter and it resulted in a 27-7 lead.

"Its a great play," Campbell said. "The safety is in a real bind. If he comes to me, Randy is wide open down the middle. If he covers Randy, Im wide open on the outside. I dont know why we dont do it more often."

Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said he cant overuse the formation unless the Vikings show the ability to run other successful plays out of it. "Otherwise, its easy to defend," Linehan said.

But Linehan did say he would work on expanding the use of that formation.

"As long as [Campbell] is getting off the line and getting down the field that fast, it definitely will be used," the coach said. ...

In an article published Monday, Pro Football Weekly reported that when Jim Kleinsasser chose not to sign a long-term contract with the Vikings during the offseason -- after Minnesota designated the veteran its franchise player -- national media questioned the teams decision to pay a $3.05 million salary.

But Kleinsasser knew his value to the Vikings.
