'Ramsey Suffers Setback During Practice...','According to Redskins.com staffer Gary Fitzgerald, Patrick Ramsey slipped during Wednesdays practice and may have "tweaked" his sore right foot, head coach Steve Spurrier said. Ramsey left practice for treatment.
As a precautionary measure, Ramsey was taken for X-rays. He left team headquarters with trainers and was wearing a protective boot.
"Patrick practiced about all afternoon and right at the end of practice he slipped on sort of a dirt spot on the field," Spurrier said. "Our trainers wanted to take him in and give him a little treatment and I think hes going to get an X-ray to make sure nothing has happened."
Spurrier said Ramsey was able to pick himself up after slipping and walk off the injury.
"He winced a little bit, but after he walked around it didnt bother him too much," Spurrier said. "Our trainers said he was walking around pretty well right after that. Well see how he is tomorrow or the next day."
Prior to practice, Ramsey was officially listed as doubtful for this Sundays game against the New York Giants. If he is unable to play, Tim Hasselbeck would start in his place for the second game in a row. Rookie Gibran Hamdan is the teams third quarterback on the roster.
Ramsey returned to practice Wednesday for the first time in nearly two weeks. He was determined to get back on the field and return to the starting lineup against the Giants so that he can get more reps and continue his learning process as the Redskins quarterback.
Spurrier said Ramsey had "practiced pretty well" prior to slipping. He had received the bulk of reps during practice.
"He was able to set up and throw with no pain and he was moving around very well prior to that," Spurrier said. "He was firing the ball around fine today and he looked like he was ready to play."
