How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

keep six or seven of them -- because of concerns about his durability.

Taylor was hobbled by injuries throughout the first four seasons of his NFL career but has started all 16 games each of the past two years. The streak of 32 consecutive starts is by far the longest of Taylors stint in the pros.

"I try not to read that [concern about his health] into [the selection of Jones], because Ive had some pretty good luck with injuries the past two seasons," Taylor said. "I plan on being on the field, no matter what they did in the draft."

Although Taylor is an admitted fan of Jones and still admires his 189-yard rushing performance against Miami two years ago, Taylor said that cracking the Jaguars backfield rotation wont be easy for the rookie.

The Jaguars also have former fourth-round pick LaBrandon Toefield and powerful veteran Chris Fuamatu-Maafala in line for playing time. Toefield was impressive in limited playing time last year, averaging 4.0 yards per carry and catching 14 passes. Fuamatu-Maafala averaged 4.1 yards on 35 carries.

"Jones can probably be that change-of-pace power back, but we have some good backs here already," Taylor said. "[Jones] will have to come in here and show what he can do, because going from college to the pros isnt necessarily easy. Its not as simple as it looks."

And the potential competition for playing time between Taylor and Jones will feature additional intrigue due to the fact that Taylor is a former University of Florida standout.

As Hubbuch asked: "Can a Gator and a Seminole coexist in the same backfield?"

"Were going to have to," Taylor said. ...

In Minnesota. ... Randy Moss settled a lawsuit with a traffic-control agent he knocked to the ground with his car nearly two years ago.

A trial was set to begin May 17 in Hennepin County District Court after Amy Zaccardi sued the wide receiver last year. Settlement terms were not released.

Zaccardi was directing traffic in September 2002 in downtown Minneapolis when she said Moss refused
