How much time does all this take?

The answer to this question depends in large part on just how competitive your league is and how much you want to "master" the game. But, generally speaking, you'll at least want to skim the NFL news once or twice per week to see if any of your players are injured, about to lose their job, etc. You will also need to go in and select a starting lineup once each week some time prior to kickoff of the first NFL game.

In the simplest leagues you can spend as little as 5-10 minutes per week on your team, while in highly competitive leagues you can spend hours scanning the services like the FootballDieHards.com, making trade proposals and speculating as to how your players will perform in the coming week.

The Patriots ranked just 27th in the NFL in rushing last year with 100.4 yards per game, so they acquired Dillon, who has two of the nine best single-game rushing totals in league history.

Dillon broke Walter Paytons NFL record in 2000 with a 278-yard performance -- a mark since surpassed by Baltimores Jamal Lewis. Dillon and O.J. Simpson are the only players who have rushed for at least 245 yards twice.

Antowain Smith led the team in rushing last season with just 642 yards, four more than Kevin Faulk. New England released Smith earlier this year and subsequently re-signed Faulk.

Dillon, 29, has rushed for a Bengals-record 8,061 yards and 45 touchdowns in seven NFL seasons -- all with Cincinnati. Last year, however, he lost his job to Rudy Johnson.
