1979 Running Back Fantasy Leaders By Position

The best fantasy point season for a running back in 1979 was Earl Campbell of the Houston Oilers who averaged 18.02 points per game over 16 games. Campbell had 1,697 rushing yards, 19 rushing touchdowns, 16 receptions and 94 receiving yards which contributed to his fantasy total of 288.40 points. Walter Payton, Wilbert Montgomery, Ottis Anderson and Franco Harris had the other top 1979 running back fantasy seasons.
