1977 Running Back Fantasy Leaders By Position

The best fantasy point season for a running back in 1977 was Walter Payton of the Chicago Bears who averaged 21.05 points per game over 14 games. Payton had 1,852 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 27 receptions, 269 receiving yards and 2 receiving touchdowns which contributed to his fantasy total of 294.65 points. Tony Dorsett, Lawrence McCutcheon, Lydell Mitchell and Franco Harris had the other top 1977 running back fantasy seasons.
