Passing, Rushing, Receiving, Kicking & Defensive Stat Leaders

Many pro football stats only began to be counted and saved in recent years such as tackles. So although London Fletcher is the official all time tackles leader, it is very possible that someone who played before the stat was kept had more tackles. Other stats do date back to the first professional league in 1920 such as rushing yards and touchdowns. It is difficult to compare modern day stats with historical stats though, because the game has changed so much over the years. In the early years the forward pass was not used as much as it today, and recent rule changes that favor the offense have helped to increase scoring and thus higher game, season and career stat totals.
