Kicker Fantasy Averages By Career Year

Kickers typically rise in fantasy average for their first 4 years, then drop off in year 5 and then perform well again for the next 5 to 15 years. Kicking is one position where players can have a long career so there is some data for fantasy averages all the way to career year 25. The amount of games to analyze once you get past 11 seasons drops quickly though, and it is not as reliable. Most kickers are pretty steady regardless of their career year, with the only real drop off typically being the amount of long distance field goals they make. For most of their career seasons from year 3 on kickers are above or right at the league average (6.21 pts per game) for their position. The prime fantasy career years for Kickers are years 9, 10, 11 and 13.

Top 10 Kickers:
Top 10 kickers are spread out much more over their career. Over the past 15 years, a career year player from years 1 through 22 has had at least one Top 10 season except for year 20. The years where they are in the Top 10 the most are 2, 3 and 6 with year 3 having the highest total. The prime fantasy kicker seasons appear to be career years 2 through 6, though some later seasons have had higher averages, but they have not been in the Top 10 enough for the data to be as reliable. The best Top 10 fantasy season for kickers appears to be career year 6.
