Wide Receiver Fantasy Averages By Career Year

For the past 15 years, Wide Receivers have seen an increase in fantasy point average per season up until their 9th NFL season. Career Years 10 through 15 are also very strong, but there are less games played to average so the conclusions are not as reliable. Most receivers still playing after 10+ seasons are talented and getting playing time, so there is not as many backups to bring down the averages. The prime fantasy production years for wide receivers is between career year 6 and 8 and years 10 and 11. WRs on average are above the league wide receiver average (3.88) from years 3 through 15, so they are quite productive for a long period of time. Of course, the average by career year is never significantly higher or lower than the league average.

Top 10 Wide Receivers:
The Top 10 fantasy Wide Recievers for each year, over the past 15 years, have maintained a very similar average and point total. Except for career years 2 and 8, there is no drop off in fantasy points until you get beyond career year 12. Career years 3 and 7 are the years when wide receivers have had the most Top 10 seasons, and statistically years 6 and 10 have been the best fantasy years for wide recievers.
