Running Back Fantasy Averages By Career Year
Running Backs have averaged about the same amount of fantasy pointes per game throughout their first 10 years. The only down years are career years 7 and 8. The top running back years are career years 6 and 9 with 6 being the best. It is surprising, when taking into account all starters and backups over the past 15 years, that RBs for their first 10 years are very close to the position average. The production from the top 5 or 6 running backs is so much greater than the other RBs, that when you average all of them together there is not much of a rise of fall in the trend line. There are some wild swings in averages for career years 13 - 16, but that is mainly because there are fewer games to average out so the data is not as reliable. Not many running backs play for 13 plus seasons.
