Most Consistent Fantasy Players

The consistency of a fantasy player may not be something you take into account when you are making your fantasy draft selections, but if you are in a 'head to head' league it should be part of your research. The reason why is because the outcome is based on how many points your players score that week, so it is important that you have a good idea of how many points each player will get. This can be difficult to calculate though, if a player is very inconsistent, meaning they may have a high fantasy game average, but only because they have a few really high fantasy games which balance out all of the really low weeks. These can be referred to as 'feast or famine' players.

If you can assemble a team of players who are consistent, then you can be more confident that your team will score close to the sum of their averages, rather than having your team's points fluctuate wildly if it has many inconsistent players. A good strategy is to try and draft as many consistent players as possible and then sprinkle in some 'feast or famine' players who can be a wildcard which can give you a fantasy boost in weeks where you think they will have a great game. Of course you want to draft as many of the top fantasy players as possible, but some of these players are not that consistent so you need to determine at each selection how important it is to select a consistent player.
